A parable of revenge about two feuding squirrel hunters and the protégé torn between them. Past the blue field and the melting tree, there’s a snowy mountain covered with pines where they have been working for years to rid the forest of squirrels. Bar Kapra hunts the squirrels, Bat Kapra bags the corpses and Trout disposes of them. One day an argument ensues between Bar and Bat over his methods of hunting. Their squirrelly actions draw us into their absurdist realm.
This workshop version , performed at the Montreal fringe festival, served as testing ground for what ultimately became the final production.
"Some pretty deep existential conflicts make this play more meaty than a bowl of fresh squirrel stew." – Cult
"Exceptionally well acted" – Art Threat
"A very fine piece of work." – Montreal Rampage
